Bruno Angelini- Pianist, keyboardist, composer of jazz and contemporary music.
Between the ages of six and fourteen, he studied classical piano at the Music Academy of Marseilles then took up jazz. At 24, he returned to the world of classical music, studied the works of Debussy, Bartok and Messaien, etc. and joined Samy Abenaïm’s improvisation class at the CIM jazz school in Paris.
Bruno has been performing live since 1995 and has led several jazz projects on the French and European jazz scene. He has been awarded, amongst other recognitions,
- Winner of the “Coup de cœur jazz 2018” award from the Charles Cros Academy, for his album Open Land
- “Grand prize of the Charles Cros Academy 2021” for the album Hors Temps by Edward Perraud.
His career has led him to play with many other musicians such as: Kenny Wheeler, Riccardo Del Fra, Ichiro Onoe, Reggie Workman, Andrew Cyrille, Ramon Lopez, Giovanni Falzone, Francesco Bearzatti, Thierry Peala, Joe Fonda, Jeff Boudreaux, Sebastien Texier, Philippe Poussard, Christian Lete, Jean-Jacques Avenel, John Betch, Norma Winstone, Jean-Philippe Viret, Gérard Lesne, Marc Ducret, Olivier Benoit, Bruno Chevillon, Jean-Charles Richard, Mauro Gargano, Fabrice Moreau, Stephan Oliva, Maria Laura Baccarini, Xavier Desandre, Yves Rousseau, Jean-Marc Larche, Pierrick Hardy, Joce Mienniel, Jean-Luc Cappozzo, Joe Rosenberg, Julien Augier, Jason Palmer, Christopher Thomas, Laïka Fatien, Louis Sclavis, Paolo Fresu, Luca Aquino…
Since 2019, he has been performing solo piano with an original electronic device, which allows him to loop and transform the acoustic sounds of the piano, in a program dedicated to the cinema of Sergio Leone: “ Leone Alone 2.0 ” .
In addition to his work as a pianist, Bruno is also a composer for film and television. He has written original scores for documentaries and films by Hélène Milano, including “Nos amours de vieillesse,” “Les roses noires,” “Les charbons ardents,” and “Dans la tête d’un zèbre.” Since 2020 , he has collaborated with the Cinémathèque Française and the Pathé-Seydoux Foundation, composing original scores for silent films recently restored by them.
More recently, he has been leading cultural activities during his artist residencies at music schools and conservatories. He also teaches piano and ensemble playing at jazz workshops in Vauvert and Marciac.
He teaches improvisation and trio jazz piano at the Bill Evans Piano Academy (Paris) since 1996.
